Description: Reverse side of a dull-green alarm clock on a dark-blue B/G; from the ‘Happy Hour’ series of 24 similar paintings on the subject of alcoholism. One of 33 paintings 1st shown 2014 in ‘It’s About Time’ exhibition, Sassoon Gallery, Folkestone; joint show with Ron Lewis.
Data: Born 1960, Colchester. Studied: jewellery at Braintree CFE, Graphics/illustration at Middlesex Polytechnic. Worked in magazine design & illustration for 20 years, moving to Folkestone in 2009 to convalesce and paint.
First one man show, ‘Towering Achievements’, 2012, Sassoon Gallery. Continues to live, work & exhibit in Folkestone, mainly via his ‘Whelkboy Gallery’ in the Old High St.
Malcolm also hosts an annual ‘pop-up’ event in the town’s Creative Quarter.
His current work reflects an interest in childhood toys, nostalgia, with a recurring theme of addiction & homelessness. Contact:
